Whenever I freeze a note using the Superego, it trails off after a short time instead of infinitely sustaining. The frozen sound only comes back when I start to play something over it, and it’s uneven depending on what I’m playing.
I’m using it in Latch mode. It’s also placed in the effects loop of a Boss GT-10B. The only thing before the effects loop in most patches is compression.
I’m a newbie too, and have only had my Superego (my first EHX product) for two days, but it sounds like a level mis-match to me. Based on many hours of reading about the S-EGO while waiting for it to arrive, I learned that its tracking is sensitive to the input level, and having any other effects before it can affect that.
