I was bought a memory boy deluxe last Christmas, and instantly loved the pedal. However about 4 weeks in to using it, the pedal starting ‘popping’ every time I engaged it, so I sent it off to ehx to get repaired, got it back, a few weeks later, the same thing happened again, so I arranged for the pedal to be replaced with a new one. At the same time I picked up a second hand LPB-1. Both worked fine first use, however I plugged them both in yesterday again and they have both started popping now.
I’ve only used the power supply that comes with the memory boy deluxe. The lpb-1 came with a battery. But I have used a normal 9v power supply with (not the memory boy one)
I”ve tested the pedals out in different positions on my board, have tried them with a friends amp, and in his effects loop, but they still pop in every position.
I am starting to figure it must be something in my setup causing it, but I can’t figure out what it could be!
If anyone has any idea what it could be, or even if it is just a design flaw in the pedals, I would appreciate any help.
I have 2 other pedals in my set up, my current chain is:
Guitar > boss cs-2 compressor > boss sd-1 overdrive > ehx LPB-1 > ehx memory boy deluxe > amp (line 6 spider valve hd100)
I annoyingly don’t have an fx loop in my amp, hence the delay going through the front.
Dont’ mean any offense, but is there a chance that your stomping these things too hard and messing up the electrical connections to the pot?
