Hey, guys. I’ve got a question about the Talking Machine pedal. For the most part I understand it, but it seems when I turn the auxiliary switch on I lose my grasp of control. The volume gets incredibly loud and the filter effect speeds up dramatically. It also seems as though the gain knob and LFO controls don’t respond at all. Am I missing something?

Just so you know precisely what I’m doing here’s the run down.

-Tweak the pedal and filter effects as I see fit.
    -Push auxiliary switch once.
    -Blown through the wall.

I’m also with a bit of a misunderstanding of how the send and return jacks work. I’d plugged in through them and wasn’t able to get a signal at all. How would I have to set the pedal chains up to use it effectively and just what would it do?

So there’s no misinterpretation on this one here’s what I did.

    -Plugged into a separate stompbox.
    -Plugged into send.
-From return went to the amp.

Bit of a new concept to me and while the manual generally does a great job at explaining things these two parts I’ve been hung up on.

    Thanks a bunch.

not quite sure about the secondary functions blowing you through a wall [is the gain all the way up on the fuzz knob?]

but the send and return are so you can send signal through devices like delays or reverb or distortion while still using the amplitude plugged into the input to determine filter triggering [so that they don’t get in the way of the filter but still get filtered, if that makes any sense].
    so here’s what to try
plug the guitar into the input of the TM
from the send jack, run a cable to another pedal’s input [preferrablty one that’ll do something to the sound, not a tuner or something]
plug the other pedal’s output into the return jack
plug the output of the pedal into your amp.

    best of luck,

Well. What I mean by the blown through the wall is that I nearly crapped myself the first time I turned it on. The volume increased substantially. It also doesn’t seem to matter where the gain is. What I mean to say is apart from the volume knob I can’t tell a substantial difference in the sound no matter how I tweak any of the other knobs.

It could be a simple case of me not knowing how to tweak it, but the LFO rate constantly sounds really fast regardless of where I put the rate, depth, or fuzz tone knobs.

As of this writing the settings are as follows:

    Auxiliary on
    Volume: 7:00
    Tone: 7:00
    Gain: 9:00
    Rate: 9:00
    Depth: 9:00

Ok. Much appreciation. Thanks a bunch.

where’s your blend control knob at?
blend in too much dry signal, might be hard to tell differences in the tweaking.

Before I turn the Aux on I have it at about 12:00 at the lowest. Maybe up to about 2:00.

Edit: Would it make it easier if I recorded a sample of what I’m getting?

Double edit: I stumbled upon something. If I start on any preset and tweak the distortion from there it’s fine, but if I turn the white knob so that all preset lights are off then toggle the auxiliary knob on from there is when it becomes unruly.

Is it mandatory to have any of the presets selected first?
