Hi all, this is my first post here!
I just received a Memory Man in the mail, and I don’t know if I received a great deal, or was scammed!
The one I received has an attached 2 prong power cord, but it looks like it is definitely not original.
I have heard that the DMM can be very noisy; however, mine is DEAD QUIET– but, it is also EXTREMELY dark sounding.
When I have the delay setting at any thing longer than slapback (minimal), it takes maybe 1/2 to 3/4 of a second for the initial repeat to start after I play a note…the first repeat is relatively loud, then the subsequent few are almost inaudible.
(I don’t know if that’s normal for a DMM; all the other delays I own/have played always allow the first repeated note to play almost instantly after it is picked, THEN there is a pause of time before the repeats start.)
Here are some pics:
So what I want to know is this:
What year was my DMM made approximately? (1997?)
Are the sound issues I discussed SUPPOSED to be that way with a DMM?
Has mine been modded for true bypass, or are there any other mods that are obvious to discerning eyes?As it stands, the pedal is pretty useless to me at the moment, due to the weird lag time in repeating what I’ve just played, it’s WAY too dark sounding, and the 2nd + repeats are almost inaudible.

Do you have the Blend knob at midway? All the way counter-clockwise (minimum) will give you only dry signal. All the way clockwise (maximum) will give only delayed signal.
They are a bit dark because they’re analog, not digital.
I don’t think yours has true-bypass but I may be wrong. Some of the DMMs had a relay on board to do the bypass.
Might need some adjustment for the Feedback but it’s hard to tell w/o hearing it.

So the “blend” is somewhat like “mix” then?
That may be the issue; I did not have it exactly at midway.
I do understand that analog pedals are generally darker than digital ones; I’ve got a DD2, had a DD3, as well an EP3 and a host of other delays…I’m a delay nut!
I’ll try resetting the blend to mid position as well as in/out of my fx loop.
Thanks again!

Exactly. It pans between no delay and no dry signal.
