If you can’t win join them…
Some of my favorite pedals are the Small Clone and NYC Big Muff Pi. The enclosure has always been love/hate though. I love the mojo and classic look but with my lead foot I tend to baby these boxes.
How does the Little Big Muff Pi stack up to its BIG brother? How ’bout the Neo Clone?
Opinions?
March 25, 2011 at 12:59 pm #114807HarmzilaaMemberHey dude,
Just bought a little biug muff and trust me when i say that it easily stands up to its big brother!!
I almost feel that its slighlty beefier, volume at 12, tone at 3, sustain right up…..its huge.
I do have an old big muff in the bigger box too which i still use but the little big muff is awesome…
Just out of interest i bought a nano clone as well, and again, easily stands up to the bigger version.

March 25, 2011 at 8:00 pm #114796ehxguy11MemberI’m diffidently looking into it. After I buy a Boss DD-3 (I already have a Deluxe Memory Man) those two will be the next on my list. One review said that the Neo Clone had a clipping problem. Has any one that tried it had the same result?
April 2, 2011 at 4:05 am #114867KitraeMemberThe LBM stacks up very well against the NYC. There are a few different circuits revision made on the NYC BMP since 2000, so the difference is greater on some than others, but overall they are 95% the same.
April 2, 2011 at 4:46 am #114868ehxguy11MemberI have the C board, with the 500k knob I think. You can tell it is 500k by the dramatic increase in volume right?
April 2, 2011 at 5:37 am #114870KitraeMemberActually the 500k has a smoother, more gradual increase in volume, but at max it is definitely louder than the 100k in the other Muffs. Not really much difference in one or the other as far as dialing in Unity gain. The RevC NYC has a slightly deeper, more hollow bottom end than the LBM. The LBM is a tad bit less bottomy, and a tad bit more crunchy. On certain amps it won’t sound quite as ‘big’ as the RevC circuit, but both are very similar. The LBM will stand out in a mix a bit better than the RevC, but the RevC has a bit more deep “doom” to the sound if you know what I mean.

June 6, 2011 at 7:05 am #115507ehxguy11MemberI finally got around to ordering a Neo Clone. If everything goes well I’m going to buy the Little BM as well then put my Small Clone and Big Big Muff on the bay.
June 9, 2011 at 11:04 pm #115521ehxguy11MemberJust like I thought… The Neo-Clone is a real winner! I love the sound of it, dare I say, more than my Small Clone RI. Slightly less-de-tuning and more like a vintage Small Clone sound to my ears. I’m so impressed that I’m selling both my Small Clone and Big Muff Pi and buying a Big Muff Pi w/ Tone Wicker.
