I’ve had this beat up V5 Muff (1322 board, pots date to ’78) for years. I got it and a V9, which I sold ages ago. The original tone bypass switch is long gone. I would like to put it back in. Looks simple enough to do, I spent plenty of time staring at the pics of the back of the board on Kit Rae’s page (awesome site BTW.)

In those pictures, it appears that the original switch had 3 lugs. Most DPDT slide switches I’ve seen (including the two I have laying around) have 6. Can I just wire up one side of the 6 lug switch or is there’s something else I can do to use it?

I’ve been looking around recently for info, but haven’t seen anything, so I figure this would be the most knowledgeable place to ask.

Yes, you can just use one side of the switch. It won’t make a difference.

This may help you somewhat, I drew it a couple years ago so people could make a retro fit for their reissues but ended up shrinking the PCB down so it would fit into a BB. Th elayout and parts placement is all correct though:

Well, the way the guy who removed the switch did it, he kept the wires coming off the vol & tone knobs, soldering those two together, and the one between R18 & R19 is just hanging, unattached to anything. So it should be an easy hook up. Just need to drill some holes in the case to accommodate my smaller switch. I saved a copy of your schematic in case I need it for anything else. Thanks.

Sounds like there’s not much wrong with it then…
