    Hello Everyone,

    This is my first post although I’ve been lurking for a while… I’ve just ordered an Iron Lung and I’m planning where to put it in my pedal board. How should this be placed, before or after distortion? In the front of the amp or through the FX loop?

    I use a Marshall JCM 800 with no overdrive pedals, just the amps distortion. I plan on getting a ‘talk box’ sound from the Iron Lung e.g. Bon Jovi Livin’ on a Prayer. How would this be best achieved?

    I would out it after any fx pedals. But I would run the xlr output to a console/PA, and not my amplifier. The Iron Lung may give you a similar effect as the talk box. But it won’t be the same. You may wanna check out the EHX Golden Throat, or the Rocktron talk box. Hope that helps.

    Thanks for your reply. To run the XLR out to a PA/desk I would need to use a TRS jack is that right? What would be the advantage of that as opposed to using my amp?

    Sorry, I was under the impression the iron lung had xlr out like the voicebox and v256. Istill think you should use it in front of your amp, opposed to the fx loop. The fx loop, depending on the amp you use, will allow you to dial in a blend of your fx’s and your dry tone. This means you will hear your guitar part as well as your vocoded part.

    Sorry for the confusion.. Hope that cleared it up. Oh, and you are correct, you would require a TRs cableto run to a mixer (or di).

    Well, hope this will be of help. I run a JCM900 combo and my pedal board goes through my effects loop. All the pedals sound absolutely peachy.
