I’ve got a 70s or 80s Deluxe Electric Mistress I’ve managed to get working again. It’s been through the wars and I’ve just dug it out after 15 years sitting in a cupboard.

Many years ago transformer went bad. While I had the back off it, I dropped a Boss overdrive on it and cracked the circuit board. I managed to repair it by bridging the cracks with solder and wires bypassing the worst bits. I managed to find a transformer for it, but I wired it in wrong. One leg as going to one diode and the other to the ground track. So it may have been getting too much voltage. I’ve now wired it correctly. The two outside terminal one to each diode and the centre tap to the ground track. It now seems there’s a little distortion on the sound, but otherwise works fine. It sounds like maybe something has gone bad in the signal path.

I am using a bass guitar with it, I don’t know if that would make any difference.

Any help or ideas as what the fault could be greatly appreciated.

There are schematics for this model here if that’s any help to anyone.

I have mended it. I tweaked around with the trim pots after spray cleaning them. I think the bias pot was out of whack. YAY! Working Mistress! Now to get my mate’s Colorsound Dipthoniser to complete my vintage pedal setup.
