I’ve been using the freeze pedal aside from my pedal board powering with it’s supplied adapter. I’ve recently tried to plug it into one of the spare 9V DC power jacks my pedal boards power supply ha and when I do, I get a really high pitch squealing noise from the freeze pedal. It almost sounds like a more audible audible dog whistle.
My suspicion is that it’s not a compatible polarity but that’s an uneducated guess at best.
The freeze uses 9V DC w/ Center-Negative polarity. I don’t know what the Power Pad is, but it is set up to accommodate Boss pedals. The Freeze info sheet claims: “The FREEZE accepts most Boss style AC Adapters.” …. so I figured it’d work well. The power supply I’m using is a Pedal Pad’s – Power Pad seen here,

Any clue what could be causing the high pitch squeal when powering it from the Power Pad opposed to it’s supplied adapter? Is this a sure sign that it’s not a compatible polarity? Thanks!

Are there any you would recommend then if there are problems with switching power supplies? The more recommendations the better as I’m in Australia and it is sometimes hard to find specific gear where I live.
Cheers!
Edit: Just found the T-Rex Fuel Tank Junior. Would this be suitable for the Big Muff and Freeze pedals?

Would this be suitable for the Big Muff and Freeze pedals?Just to help anyone else out who might be looking in to this. The T-Rex Fuel Tank Junior will only do 120ma on any of the given outputs which is less than the Freeze is asking for. I think I will go for the T-Rex Fuel Tank Chameleon. Unless someone actually wants to throw in some advice! I’d really appreciate it.

It doesn’t do it when it’s the only pedal on it, but as soon as you add another pedal it starts to squeal. It even does it on my pedal power 2 – so I don’t think it has to do with milliamps, polarity or anything like that. It appears that it has to be isolated (even though the pedal power 2 outlets are supposed to be “isolated”).
weird glitch that should be fixed to make it truly pedal board friendly.
May 11, 2012 at 8:02 pm #117536aviaviParticipantMy Freeze pedal is unusable with my pedal board. I’m trying to use it with a 1Spot, but it whines. EHX said they could fix it, so I sent it back, and just got it back. It still whines, so it’s apparently a design flaw that really needs to be addressed. In the meantime, it’s going on the auction blcok.
