Home › Forums › Help/Technical Questions › Holy Grail Knob Came Loose
Hello,
I purchased a Holy Grail about 3 years ago and at one point about midway through owning it, the knob became loose. As in I could pull it up about 1cm and it would fall back down when I let go. This has lead to it cutting out constantly and I have to move the knob till it hits a point (which always seems to be random) that it stays connected to the circuit. If it does not connect I get a very low signal with no reverb.
I have opened it up and cannot seem to figure out how it tightens back in, or if this is the reason it cuts out but both happened around the same time.
I use it mainly for recording and vocals so I am never steping on it. Using it this way has let me work around the problem for a year now but want to fix it. It has not gotten any worse since it originally loosened up.
Wondering if this is a usual defect.
Thanks
Jeff
There could be a few culprits:
1) the pot is coming apart, usually caused by being stepped on or smashed
2) the solder joints on the board are broken, possibly the solder pads.
3) just a bad pot. I recently replaced one on a Worm that looked fine but in circuit it was bad.
