Hey, I have a Muff in my chain and it produces so much hum that it is pretty much impossible to play to its full potential.
This is what i’m running, in chain order:
Fender Jazzmaster (SD antiquity2 single coil pickups)
Boss TU-3
Big Muff
Tube Screamer
EHX Pulsar
EHX Memory man
Fender deville 2×12
If i play with both pickups engaged, the hum disappears so it could be a single coil issue? But i want to use the bridge pickup, thus the predicament i am in.
Any suggestions? Maybe hum debugger?
Cheers
well because you mention that the hum is gone when you use both single coils, i also asume its your pickups, so my guess and recommendations are the same as yours, try a hum debugger.
also during your next string change i would shield the hell out of your guitar, use copper or foil tape, there’s also a shielding paint that i have used in the past that works great!
also you may want to try your setup in another location, there may be sum thing in the room your in contributing to the noise, like florescent lighting for one example, there’s many others.
Thanks Mr. Grim
I will get onto some of that copper and try and shied what i can. I’ve tried various locations and it all seems the same unfortunately.
