Hi all – I have a V2 Small Stone bought new in late ’70s. Other than swishy background noise it has worked great until a short time back. Now I get sound in both the on and off positions but no phase shifting in the on position, just a slight volume drop. Battery is nice and fresh. Anybody have any thoughts on how to repair this guy? Didn’t see this specific problem mentioned in a forum search, but if I missed it please point me there.
    Thanks,
    Steve

It’s likely the CA3094 in the oscillator has quit. It’s a common problem. They’re about $5 each at Small Bear.

Ron, you are lightning quick! Thanks much and I have the CA3094 on order for retrofit.

Now that I look inside, there are 5 EH1048, which I understand are replaceable by CA3094. Is the best bet to replace all 5 or can individual bad ones be isolated?
    Thanks,
    Steve

I have exactly the same problem. I bought my Small Stone less than a year ago.
Do I have to replace the CA3094 on the oscillator? or what else.
    Thanks.

    Ron/EH Man, a question…
On the attached issue J schematic I can see (I hope) the 5 EH1048s – 4 identified as LFO and the fifth toward the bottom of the page. Looking at the board itself this fifth one appears to be the one physically directly under the color switch. Is this the oscillator which you have identified as the likely culprit?
    Thanks,
    Steve

Hi The EH Man, my small stone V1, pot date 1377552 has the same symptoms, no phase sound. Could you please tell me which IC shall I replace? A1, A2, A3, A4, A5 or A6? see the Small Stone V1 schematic

    many thanks

    B.
