Home Forums Help/Technical Questions Does EHX make a gate type pedal that can completely cut off a signal if it surpasses a certain volume threshold?

I’ve seen the HOLIER GRAIL reverb demo with Peter Stroud. I really like the reverse gate function
that adds reverb to soft picking but cuts it off when you start playing louder. However, The gate on the reverb sounded like it was slamming shut, whereas I would like the reverb on those softer notes to trail off fluidly.

So I figured on splitting my guitar signal into two amps. I would run one line clean and the other i would use a reverb pedal with this effect before it, set to cut out my signal on that line when i start playing loud.

    So I wonder.
Can I get such a threshold activated pedal from EHX or need i look elsewhere?

    thankyou

DOD FX35B’s do this and sell for under $40 on ebay. Don’t see the point in buying new unless you’re trying to run an all EHX board.

    ThankYou for the lead.
Not much about the FX35B coming up online right now about it…I will have to search harder

I’m not necessarily looking for an EHX effect to do this, but do they have a pedal that would do what I need?

Okay, that’s interesting. Although after reading the description I’m not sure how this pedal could be set to cut off my guitar signal once the volume reached a particular loudness. The ideal here is a pedal that essentially mutes itself when there is a predetermined volume spike. Can I pull this off with the FX390B?

    Thank You

an EHX equivalent to the FX30B is a pedal they made that is long out of production called The Silencer, i own 2 of them, but unfortunately i agree that i dont think its what your looking for, it would more likely do the opposite.

Well, there are some boutique fx-builders with gated fuzz..

The trigger of the Microsynth can be seen as a gate, but I don’t think you’re looking for that..

But really clean gates, I don’t know.. I guess you’re better of in 19″ studio gear kinda effects.. I played with a few in studio’s that do the same thing as you described..
