I bought a deluxe electric mistress on ebay; listed as new. It arrived untarnished in the original box with the ac plug. I plugged it into the wall and it doesn’t seem to alter the sound of my guitar at all. There is no noticeable effect when I turn the knobs. Is the effect really strongly pronounced? When I tried it yesterday I thought it worked, maybe because I was so excited.
How much is the thing supposed to weigh? it’s not that heavy, and when I shake it lightly, i hear a slight rattling. Is it possible that the person removed the parts or something inside is loose? I sent them an e-mail to see if I can get a refund.
When I plug the amp into the “Flanged out” jack, I click the stomp button once and get no sound. I click it again and I get a (not really different) sound. When I plug the amp into the “Direct out” jack, I get sound and the stomp button doesn’t do anything.
If you’re hearing rattling it’s likely the Filter Matrix switch has come apart. Open it up and see if any small pieces fall out. Don’t lose them because you can put the switch back together.
would this cause the whole thing to not work?
yes
I don’t know much about electronics so I haven’t touched anything inside. Nothing appears loose or fell out when I opened it. Here are some pictures.

The lowest knob, the rate knob feels a little loose (more than the other two). It wiggles a bit and moves the big green chip inside when I wiggle it.
I tried to find some other pictures of the inside on the internet and think I found a couple. Is this missing any parts?
None that I can see.
