Hi,
I’m having a hard time with my small clone. Got it from my friend knowing it has issues with power coming from external power supply. Tried it today and found out that even the battery jack doesn’t bring it to life, works well until I kick it in, when it just mutes my system, tried it with different cables and a couple of batteries. Also the led doesn’t lit.
So I looked inside and everything looked and felt solid except for this solder, I think it’s touching the solder beside it:
Could it be about this that the effect doesn’t budge? or any better ideas?
By the way, my first post, so hello everyone!

My guess is that there’s a bad diode in the power supply since it won’t work with either a battery or a power supply. Does the LED even come on?

Nope, it doesn’t. Also tried with a couple of power supplies, so don’t know about that. (or power supply diode on the pedal (?!), just a bit confused?)
February 1, 2010 at 3:54 pm #107017The EH ManModeratorActually, there’s no diode in it but there is a 47 ohm resistor that may be burned up. Can you post some pics of the component side of the board?

Either my mind is playing tricks on me or the led DID lit with the battery for a couple of seconds when I tried it again for a minute ago.

Btw, how can i get the pot come off?

After that, there’s a nut and washer that holds the pot.February 1, 2010 at 4:23 pm #107021OverlordMemberQuote:Quote:Btw, how can i get the pot come off?You need to grab the knob securely and pull it off first. Not the easiest thing to do.
After that, there’s a nut and washer that holds the pot.Used the old shoelace around the pot trick with it, just wasn’t sure it would come off like that.
So here’s the pics, wasn’t sure what to take the pictures of, so I took multiple:
Tell me if I just missed the spot you needed! This forum clips these pics, but I’m sure you know how to follow the links to imageshack to see the full pics.
February 1, 2010 at 4:34 pm #107022The EH ManModeratorI don’t see anything obviously wrong. Plug something into the input jack while it’s hooked to a battery. If the LED doesn’t light up, short the battery red wire on the DC jack to the red wire going to the circuit board with some needle nose pliers or tweezers. See if the LED lights up.

See if the LED lights up.What the hell, the light came alive first time I tested it after reassembling, now it doesn’t do a thing (again), even when short circuiting. Tried it with different batteries at my pals place before , it was dead then too.
Could it be that this only battery available at this time is just dying out? Or is some of the solders coming loose?
and with the power supply I came to think that would a Harley Benton power supply even be able to fire it up? (basically a T-rex classic copy)
February 1, 2010 at 5:50 pm #107025The EH ManModeratorIntermittent operation could mean a bad solder joint or loose connection somewhere. You might try it with a new battery. If the battery gets hot then there’s a short somewhere.
