    I’m looking for an envelope filter at present. Just wondering how this sounds with a guitar. Subtle or wacky? I’ve heard it’s one of the rarer vintage EHX products.

    I’d love to get myself a vintage Mu-Tron, but they’re very expensive these days.

    How would you compare this to… say, DOD 440?

    i have this pedal, and ive asked questions about it here, it seems not to many people have info on it here, i guess it is a rarity.

    but i can say that it is a very subtle envelope filter effect, i would say the the weakest sounding of all EH envelope filters, if its cheap or simple your looking for try the Dr.Q (probably best, subtle and just enuf effect) or Bass Balls (a bit different than the others,”wacky” as you sed)(even cooler if your willing to mod it and place the internal trim pots on the outside of the unit for extra control)

    if not cheap and you got a couple extra bucks any version of the Q-Tron is good (and its based on and created by the original mu-tron creator, i see you were interested in), and i would say the Riddle:Qballs is the king.

    Mr.Grim, I wonder if your pedal has a bunch of dead caps? have you changed the electrolytics?
    Although it’snot an intense wah.
    My fave is the Qtron though — does a pretty good Mutron.

    o yeah mine is fine, i do have 2, one good one one almost dead one. it needs a cap and a new 2nd op amp.

    and yeah thats the only vid ive ever seen of it myself, and i had posted topics on my Y Triggered filter on here a couple times, and it hardly gets any posts on it, thats why i assumed its not very well known or owned.

    Thanks for the replies guys.

    I’ve seen the YouTube clip, definitely not over the top. I was wondering how it would sound on guitar especially how the wet signal trails/decays when you stop playing. I had a DOD 440 clone that does this beautifully.

    I’m not into funky wah sounds. Some subtle, musical envelope filter is what I’m after, but this may be too subtle? I’d love to get my hands on it, but still a little hesitant at present since you can’t get one for cheap either.

    Thanks for the suggestions on the Q-Tron series. Does the newer Micro Q-Tron also heavily based on the Mu-Tron? I might give it a go at this one first.

    Hello, Does anyone know what op amps are used in the Y Triggered filter. They are not marked on my pedal-which has stopped producing the wha effect. This unit sounded good with my bass when it was working. The effect was good but not over the top like alot of the wah pedals. Philip

    The schematic I redrew lists 2 x 4558 Dual Opamps and one EH1048 OTA (House Stamped CA3094).

    What makes you think the OpAmps are at fault? Have you attempted to debug the unit?.

    Hello, I tried tracing the signal and it stops at the first op amp. I have also replaced some of the caps. Thanks for the op amp info. Philip
