Hello everyone!
I just bought a circa 1980-81 with the V2 circuit and the V3 graphics and the negative end of the battery terminal is disconnected(it works off of AC). Is it normally connected to the ground lug of the Input jack?

Yes it is. Either ground or Ring in the case of a stereo jack which it will have. you’ll see where it came loose anyways.

I have a 79 one myself and I love it, its awesome. Sme current graphic too.
So I have narrowed it down to early 1980, all of the pot codes and ic date codes are 79 and the newest are 198001, first week of 1980.
Is it true bypass? makes a big difference to it. you have to use grounded input though or it will oscillate in bypass mode with the color switch up. Here’s a diagram i done if you need one:
