    Hello,

I’m new to the EHX forum all together, but i think this might be the best place for me to find the answer I’m am looking for. I have a Sovtek MIG100H head and i’m trying to figure out what type of cab would be the best fit for me. IN a band i play punk/hardcore, but in my home i play all styles. I was considering a 2×12 1932 or a 1960…but now i see there are many different variations of the 1960a/b and i’m even more confused as ever. I always wanted to get my hands on a vintage sunn 4×12 cab, but i don’t. Might that be a waste of money?? I finally have a little money and i can finally afford to buy my own cab so i don’t have to borrow other peoples junk. I definatly will be purchasing a used cab and my budget tops off at about 5 or 600 bucks. Help me please! Thanks!!

Thats cool. My head is in a large box thought. It might not sit right on top of that.

It definatly roars. The high channel sounds amazing, but because i dont have a decent cab i haven’t been able to play around with it.

Sweet. If i knew the handling power of that cab, i could find something comparable around here. I think i’m just going to go with a used Marshall 1960a/b. I need to have the 8ohm jack fixed on my head though. It has a 4 ohm, 8 ohm, and 16ohm. All separate. Would 8 be the way to go on a 4×12 1960? Or 16? Ive never beem sure about which impedance setting is the correct one for any peticular cab.

most 4×12’s are switchable 4/16ohn mono and 8ohms stereo ….. as long as you match the amps output with the cab you’ll be fine. So you could use the 16ohm output on the amp with the cab set to 16ohm mono.

Ok. Now let me show my real ignorance (i am here to learn more thought). If you are using one cab is that considered mono or stereo? Or can it be both. I know what mono and stereo mean when it comes to home audio somewhat, but it doesnt make sense to me in terms of one speaker box with four or two or even one speaker in it especially when we’re talking about on input. Can you explain it in laymens terms? I’m confused.
