I had a friend buy me a 2880 whilst he was in the US and because I’m in Australia I can’t use the power Supply.
I contacted EVER shop in Australia and the Australian Distributor and they all tell me they can’t sell me a power supply because it was bought in the US.Where in gods name do I get this mythical power supply from!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
EDIT: Do any of you know any Australian members who own a 2880, Holiest Grail or a HOG?
Maybe I could get them to buy it on my behalf if they still have the receipt!December 14, 2009 at 12:14 am #105297electro-melxModeratorThey are saying this to try and stop you buying pedals overseas in the future, but I’m suprised you can’t find an austrailian EHX dealer that will sell you a ‘replacement’ PSU. Next time don’t tell them you bought it in the US, just say you’ve lost/broken/had stolen your power supply and you need to buy a replacement. I’m in the UK and it’s possible to buy a UK EHX power supply from any of the bigger EHX dealers, I could order one online right now.
‘Liberty Belle’ (part of the admin here) is in Austrailia so he might be able to point you to the best shop for this kind of thing.

ok… well, the specs for the 2880 psu are ‘9Volts DC 500mA output’ I believe it’s a standard size barrel type (like a boss) so you shouldn’t have any trouble finding a suitable power supply from somewhere else. (i’m not 100% on that though, what does it say on your USA psu?)
I’ve just seen that the ‘IBANEZ AC509’ is 9v 500mA so that might do the trick and I’d suspect that Boss would make something to fit the bill too. it seems to be a pretty standard spec psu that you should be able to get from any music shop, but like I said before check what it says on your usa supply first.

It’s crazy, if it was me I’d email EHX and see if they can sort you out with a power supply or point you in the direction of someone who can because this is just ridiculous.

I think this situation is BS, if you want a replacement power supply they should bloody well sell you one like you can easily here in the UK and in the US and Europe.

I emailed EXH who said they can’t help me out because they’re bound by a contract.

ok, in that case….
go to Tandy/Radio Shack/Maplins (or whatever electrical shops you have over there) and ask for a “9v 500mA centre positive power supply with a 2.1mm barrel plug.”

I am going through this same problem. I bought a Black Finger and it didn’t ship with a power supply. I tried to get another power supply but because they must be sold under a MAP here in Australia you need to provide evidence it being bought from a licensed dealer.
I have a Black Finger that I have never used. Anyone got a spare power supply or even know what jack type it is?????

If EHX ever stops US stores selling to AU I will boycott EHX and never buy EHX pedals again because the mark up on EHX in AU is fucking ridiculous and I’d rather go without!!!!!!!!!
Some companies wont let US stores ship outside the US.
If that ever did happen i spose rather than boycott em i could get US friends I know on the www to buy it for me and ship it.
There’s ways around everything in life but it would be bad form on EHX if they ever did do it!!!
Also for about 10 bucks cheap as chips sells 9V 1500mA reversable polarity supplies, 1500mA is plenty to safely power the 2880. It also comes with a shit load of differnt types of tips for different electronics. You can switch it from 4 to 12 volts too. I have a few of them,they are great!
