Having seen the amazing effectology series I’ve decided I need some new effects and I am definetely buying the Hog and Memory Man Hazarai. I would appreciate any advice on what other effects could help me achieve the widest sonic range without doubling up too much on similar sounding effects. My budget is about $1000 altough it could be a bit more if really worth it. I have some old Boss effects (flanger, digital delay, compression, phaser) but I need new sounds and I am happy to replace some or all of them. i play a strat through a mesa boogie MK3SC and love the sounds of the 60’s and Pink Floyds guitars and much more but I also want to be able to use a straight guitar like a synth. I need a reverb unit too, is the Cathedral the most versatile of the range?

I would say for the synth part the Micro Synthesizer, my most versatile pedal! And if you like Pink Floyd a Big Muff is also advisable..

cathedral is the most advanced reverb, and i would also add a flanger hoax to that list!

i agree with the above comments. those three pedals (flanger hoax, cathedral, microsynth) and a fuzz along with the HOG and SMMH could probably create the coolest, most awesome, crazy, face melting sounds ever!

pedals that i have and would recommend are

    the pog2
    big muff tone wicker
    Deluxe memory man
    english muff’n
    holy grail

but stuff id also recomemend that i dont have but want simply because there awesoe

    hog
    catherdral
    microsynth
    small clone
    big muff pi

tbh i could go on and on and on and on and on, cause i wanna get at least 1 of every pedal !!!
which is gonna cost a lot

but glad you’ve found EHX, loads of great stuff and you probably wont want anything ever again, well thats me anyways !!!

and as for the effectology series, that amazing, its made me think bout writing a lof of other stuff, and experiment, bill ruppert is a genius
cant wait for more and more of them, each new one brings new, experimental and excellent things with pedals.

yeah I agree, i hadn’t kept up with progress on the new effects available as i was involved in an acoustic band for a few years and hadn’t played the electric much. some of these effects open up a way of making live music in a way previously only possible through recording. and the sounds are great. i can see you already have a really nice set up, i plan to do the same. thanks for sharing.
