Hi people,
I wonder if anyone has experienced problems with powering an Electro Harmonix Memory Man with Hazarai via a Dunlop DC Brick?
It turns on fine but after a while it starts going crazy the memory man turns off, all my other pedals start turning on and off, flashing, the micropog led becomes much less bright… Everything works fine when I power the memory man with its power adapter, I don’t understand…
Any thoughts?
It requires a chunk of current. Are you powering anything else off the brick?
From the Dunlop site:
Seven 9V outputs can handle an average of 55 milliamps each, or a total of 375 milliamps in any configuration
Between the SMMwH, the microPog, and the other pedals you’re likely overloading it. Try it w/o the MicroPog and see if it stabilizes.
Ah…
I’m powering:
boss loopstation(9v)
boss dd-20 (9v)
memory man with hazarai (9v)
micropog (9v)
fulltone bass mosfet drive (18v)
That’s not a great deal isn’t it?
It might not seem much but you have a lot of power hungry digital pedals there, SMM/H, MicroPOG, Loopstation, DD-20….
…if it were a bunch of analogue pedals, fuzz, chorus, overdrive, a phaser or whatever….then no, it isn’t much, but in this case I think you have way too much draw on it…… 375 mA isn’t that much, EHX recommend (and supply) a 200Ma power supply just for the Hazarai.
You’re totally right, infact… goddamnit!
Yeah, all the power is shared on that box. It’s a matter of the Dunlop being poorly designed. The Voodoo Labs is far superior and can handle a lot more.
The Voodoo Labs PP2+ has 2 outputs that put out 250ma, and 6 that put out 100ma, and they’re all isolated from each other. For 18V you need to order a special two dollar cord for it.
