    Hi all,

    I have had an Electro-Harmonix Holy Grail reverb pedal for a while and it has recently started to play up on me.

    Basically, what happens is that it intermittently starts to cut out (or sometimes simply attenuate) the guitar signal even if not active. Stepping on the footswitch to engage and disengage it a couple of times normally makes it work ok again. This makes it is pretty unusable at the moment.

    It sounds to me like a problem with the footswitch itself but having had a look on the inside, it all looks perfectly fine.

    I am not great with electronics but if anyone could recommend anything I could try, that would be great. Otherwise, would anybody be able to recommend anywhere that I could send it for repair? I’m based in West London, UK.

    Hopefully someone will chime in with some ideas on what may be wrong.

    before you send it to EHX in Germany (which is going to cost you a fair bit just to send) and unless it’s less than a year old and you have the till recipt, they’ll charge you about £25 to fix it too….so it may not be worth it.

    if you can solder (or have a mate that can) I’d probably try replacing the switch and checking all the solder joints between the jacks and board etc first.

    Thanks for your replies guys. I have ordered a replacement 3pdt footswitch (from here: http://www.little-black-box.co.uk/components/3pdt-true-bypass-footswitch/prod_21.html – as it seems to be the culprit) and hopefully will have it sorted out soon.

    I’ve replaced the footswitch with the 3pdt footswitch above. Although I haven’t yet taken it out for a gig (for a real test) this seems to have done the trick!
