    I just got an old LPB-1. The seller advertised it as NOS, but I just thought he was just refering to it looking nice and having the box and paperwork. When I got it today, the first thing I did was open it up to put a battery in it. Low and behold…an original EHX 9 volt battery! Needless to say I am stoked. I paid about $60 for it, which seems to be a little on the high end for what they seem to be going for, but hey, I wanted one. Part of the H in Harmonix is missing, but what are you gonna do?

    One last thing before the pics, does anyone know an approximate year for this graphic? The pot date code is covered with solder and only the first 2 numbers are visible. “13”

    I looked at it again, and it looks like part of a 7 after the 13. The third and fourth numbers are the year right? If so, probably a late 70’s as opposed to early 80’s. No real way to know for sure, I guess, unless I de-solder it…which ain’t happening!

    Nevermind. I gues the 137 means Chicago Telephone Supply. Oh well.

    I think it was brand new. The guy who sold it to me said it sat in the box for 30 years, in the back of an old music store. It even had the EHX battery still installed. The only flaw is the part of the H missing. When I saw the pic he had of it, it had tabe over the switch, and you can see on the case where it was. I think the tape took it off. Anyways, it sounds pretty cool. I am happy with it.

    My LPB-1 is the same as the first one, but with a black background. Does it date from the same years? Pot date is also hidden by solder.

    The transistor is a PNP 2N5087, so the circuit is reversed in comparison with the usual schematics found on the net (see below). Anyone knows about NPN and PNP transitors in the LPB-1s?

    Alas, this is ridiculous temptation, I love the Electro Harmonix plug-ins, they look awesome and my friend just isn’t for selling his original Muff Fuzz, even though he rarely plays guitar, aghh!
