I have what I believe to be an original Memory Man (not deluxe) from 1978. It’s blue on top with silver letters, with three knobs going straight down on right side. It was working when I originally got it, but has stopped.
If anyone can point me in the direction of a good repair service in NYC or close I would appreciate it.
Thanks!

October 13, 2009 at 9:48 pm #102215Fender&EHX4everModeratorI’m pretty sure Howard Davis could help you with it. He’s in Brooklyn.

Thanks. He appears to be the man
Appreciated,

I think he’s a bit cheaper.October 14, 2009 at 1:46 pm #102226marc61MemberHoward Davis didn’t get back to me yet, but Ron did.
According to Ron, he doesn’t usually do repairs anymore, but will make an exception for EH. We’re in communication and still trying to determine if it’s worth it.
You guys are great. I’ll try and advise results.

What’s wrong with the pedal? What’s it doing? Surprised Howard didn’t get back with you…he’s usually very fast at responding to emails. Plus, he probably built the pedal in the first place lol!

I think he’s a bit cheaper.I didn’t recommend RonSound because the OP asked for somewhere “in NYC”; but yeah, RonSound does excellent work :thumb: 😆

October 17, 2009 at 6:45 am #102362devnulljpParticipantSomewhat related…anyoneknowwhat chips were in the v3 MM?
This one:
What would stop decay/feedback, turning it into a single echo slapback? Fixable?
Is this MN3005 or SAD1024? Would the delay chip be the problem, or something else?October 17, 2009 at 10:32 am #102367Fender&EHX4everModeratorQuote:Somewhat related…anyoneknowwhat chips were in the v3 MM?

Is this MN3005 or SAD1024? Would the delay chip be the problem, or something else?I don’t own that version, but I would reckon that it’s an MN3005. It seems like the chorus feature was introduced at the same time that EHX switched to using the Panasonics.
If you’re getting at least one repeat, then the delay chip should be okay. There is probably a trimpot to calibrate the feedback.
October 17, 2009 at 8:26 pm #102384marc61MemberSo Ron got it yesterday, and finished today. Cost $50 to repair. Well worth it I think. He said it’s a 1980, and the work he did was “Replaced IC, adjusted bias and balance trimpots”
October 18, 2009 at 2:35 am #102386dmc777MemberIsn’t the IC the delay chip? If so, I wonder what chip he put in there? Did it have reticon sad1024’s to begin with?
