Hey, i recently bought a q-tron plus for my synthesizer and im really having trouble getting a good sound out of it. its either —
really thin sounding,
too bassy,
really distorted,
or a combination of the above.
and if i get it sounding even kind of good, as soon as i a turn a few knobs on the synth or play too high or too low it gets really bad sounding, and then i have to adjust the settings again.
my ideal filter would be very clean, have the ability to do clear “WAH” vocally sounds, and do watery, drippy, liquidy sounds, without the thinness or distortion problem.
im looking at the new q-balls riddle pedal and it is apparently tuned to guitar. however, since i play lead synth, my frequency happens to be very mid-rangey, like a guitar. would i have a better time with that pedal? or am i possibly looking for a crybaby style pedal? what about the EHX bi-filter? whats best for my synth?
thanks alot guys
EDIT – watch this video – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LdSf6RhQY-I
clean, vocally, liquidy.. even “rubbery” sounding. not what im getting out of my q-tron plus. but will i get this with a synth hooked up playing within in the same range?
let me specify here that im basically looking for a clip of synth through this thing.
I don’t play synth through my Q-Tron+, but I always place a compressor after it. Have you tried that yet?
What really kills me about guitar filters, being someone who has a synth and knows what FX are possible, is that guitar filters DON’T TRACK. Therefor given any setting, there’s a certain range on the guitar that sounds best.
On a full range synth- this problem is even more apparent. (That’s why I love my tracking filter on my synth, although it’s ADSR and not envelope, though I don’t have an attack sensitive keyboard, so it doesn’t matter either way)
any other guitar/synth envelope/auto wahs on the market? something NOT for bass?
oh there are tons, too many to list.
I wouldn’t know what to recommend for synths though.
