HOG + SMMH doing some sitar sounds:

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=651215&songID=7856025I’ve got another one coming, but I need to rerecord it. I didn’t record it loud enough so thus the S/N ratio stinks.
Here it is:

still a little bit of background hiss- it’s not from the peals, that’s from the mic gain

Dig the second and third clips a lot!
The second clip you are triggering the freeze with the bass string hits? Then just playing on top correct? So it’ll freeze, then leave un-effected what you play on top? Or are you routing things to do this?
Thanks again! I’m slowly coming around to the HOG the more, non-organ sounding thing I hear.
July 20, 2009 at 9:43 pm #99773julianModeratorWell right now I do it in parallel, but because of the dry slider I could be doing it normally as well, and that’s I usually did it.
Yeah, you just really quickly pull all the way back on the expression pedal and then push it back forward when you hit a root note. I’ve just got the -1 and -2 octaves on with a bit of low pass filter

Thanks, julian, really cool. I love two and three but my top favourite is number one, needless to say.
Great stuff! :thumb:July 22, 2009 at 6:19 am #99825freshchopsMemberAWESOME!!!! The Sitar sounds are fantastic! How do you get the sustained lines (organ’ish sounding)? Continuous strumming, through the pedal or what?
July 22, 2009 at 4:48 pm #99843julianModeratorIn the sitar clip?
Continued strumming. I’m strumming every string on the guitar, plus I loop the beginning, plus my guitar is a neck-through, plus reverb, plus the auto-gliss setting sort of holds notes a little bit. I think I also have some attack on the HOG parts so the strumming is blurred. The guitar is tuned C A# D# A C C. I’m playing the melody in power chords on the non C strings.
July 23, 2009 at 5:35 am #99865ghostMemberMan, I’ve never gone back and forth on wanting a pedal this much. The features make me want it so much, as it seems like something I could use endlessly. But then every time I hear it in use – my ears hear too much of the Organ-esue Hog sound. Which is odd because I use a PS-3 like crazy, and I never get annoyed by it’s sound. But maybe that’s because I’m using it to fatten things up, and keeping it burried in the mix. Maybe the Hog demos I hear are just to balanced on the side of the HOg?
July 23, 2009 at 7:33 am #99868julianModeratormaybe I should do some more clips
July 23, 2009 at 7:29 pm #99888ghostMemberI wouldn’t mind at all.
