    hey,

i’m a great fan of the super looper, but my only problem is the footswitch belonging to it. because i mostly use it while making live-music for theatre-plays, everyone is always annoyed about my noisy switching and recording of loops.

is there a possibility to make it quieter or an alternative footswitcher i could use?

    keep on!

    best,
    tobias

So you’re talking about the actual sound of your foot clicking on the switch right? Not a pop coming through the speakers?

You could use a midi switcher.

Interesting idea (but beingnot real famiar with a midi switch/switcher is there a example or two
brand/model that would do the same as the 2880 looper foot pedal?

    thanks

    p.s.

I am interested in buying a 2880 looper and the footswitch (this may be dumb but for home use could I manually control the 2880 without the expense of the foot controller or is it too difficult or more prone to do overs etc

    Thanks

Unfortunately I don’t know much about MIDI controllers. I know there is one that I really really want in the MOOG MP-201 (because it also has a programmable expression pedal, analog CV outs, and a multi-waveform LFO with tap tempo.) But it is also really expensive. :(

There are behringer and yamaha ones that aren’t too expensive, but I don’t know any of the specifications of them.

If I were to get the 2880, personally I’d probably get a midi controller or the foot switch. Only real reason not to use the foot controller is if you’re using it as an instrument along with turntables or have a mixer running into it so that you can loop other performers.

Go for the MIDI Ext Control option.

Set up the MIDI channels to correspond to specific keys on a MIDI control keyboard, or simpler, to specific pads on a MIDI control digital drum set (for example the Korg DDD-1).

Match your selected digital drum pads, or your selected keyboard keys, to the desired MIDI command such as Play, Record etc as set out in the EHX User’s Manual. (Yes, I have just been reading it)

Check your MIDI channels on the 2880 as well, as set out in the User’s Manual.

Now you have the choice of hitting a selected digital drum pad, or selected keyboard key, to initiate whichever specific event you wish to have happen on the 2880 instead of using a noisy foot switch.

The pad, or key, functions exactly the same way as a foot switch in regard to sending a command to the 2880 and you can do this whenever you wish.

You could also set up a MIDI sequence to have events occur on a programmed basis but I do not think that is much cop for live performance.

Seizing the moment is far better unless you are tied to a strict time window.

Both methods eliminate noisy foot switches.

(BTW. A Korg DDD-1 digital drum can be picked up for about 80 EUR in Europe on the second hand market)
