My Tube Zipper that I bought in December just stopped working today
It was plugged in and working, I unplugged it and went back about an hour later to plug it back in, and nothing happened. The lights don’t come on, the tubes don’t light up, and nothing happens when I click the foot switch.
I’m hoping that the problem is just that the power adapter stopped working…
Anybody ever have a similar situation?
i had a similar situation right off the bat with mine, although mine would turn back on if i kicked it.
trouble is i have no idea what i did to fix it, i just opened the thing up (instantly voiding my warranty) and looked for cold solders or shorts (potentially fatal because the circuit retains high voltage after power is removed). i didnt find anything, but when i put it back together the problem was solved and i felt like a very lucky idiot.
my first suggestion is to tap on the top of the box and see if you can get any response, my second suggestion is to bring it to a shop that has other ehx tube pedals in stock and try out another power adaptor. my third suggestion is to contact ehx about warranty repairs. i do not suggest taking my course of action.
I learned with my Tube Zipper that, for me, there were “no user serviceable parts” inside–aside from the obvious trying a new power supply or wiggling the tubes. And upon looking inside it just intimidated me. I shot an email to info@ehx.com and set up a return for repairs. Mine was out of warranty anyway so I had to pay a small fee. Chip was extremely helpful. So now I got it back and it sounds incredible. For something like that, I feel there is nothing like sending it to the folks that made it, if you’re after a stock application.
Yeah, their repairs are pretty reasonable.
