Just picked this box up w/ the foot controller. Was wondering if anyone had any tips, tricks, or (even better)… if any long time users had the time to post a small tutorial on usage.
Hopefully will get around to reading the manual a couple times thru this week. But for now I just have time to sit with it for a bit each day.
My first “trick” thought is to run stereo to two mono cable out of the headphone out as sort of an Aux send. This way you could essentially use the two outs for a stereo out. And then have two aux sends to different amps or channels of a board. Have not tried yet, but seems handy + possible.
Also discovered that if you throw the pitch all the way down then hit the octave you can get down 2 octaves.

One thing I’m really wondering is in Mixdown, I’m almost always going to do this live. Is there a way to mixdown the tracks and then have the four shut off, go blank, or other. My attempts so far have left me with a huge volume jump as the mixdown passes a second time around, as the 1-4 track faders are still up…

My attempts so far have left me with a huge volume jump as the mixdown passes a second time around, as the 1-4 track faders are still up…A (kind’a temporary) solution for that problem is that you can record the mixdown (even live) and leave the “Mixdown Fader” all the way down the whole time. It will still record the mixdown at the volumes that the 4 channels are set at but WILL NOT playback with the loop repeat along with the 4 tracks. You can slide the master up while group slide the 4-tracks down later (even fast) and start over with recording onto your 4 tracks if you want. Just engage the “Punch-In” switch so it straight records over the previous tracks instead of dubbing with them.
Hope that makes sense…. and wish there was an easier way myself! anyone else?
June 11, 2009 at 6:20 am #97699ghostMemberYeah I just did that one last time I sat down. Seemed to work alright, but it’s a good 10-20 second pause in progression of the tune I have to take to slide faders around. I wish it would just dump them over Live to mixdown – makes no sense for it not to.
My first thought was that if you had punch-in down on the mixdown take, it would wipe all four tracks and leave just the mixdown.
Ah the journey of getting boxes to do what you need them to….

I mean, not only is there no degradation in the signal, I’d go out on a limb and say that the input driven signal actually sounds better through the 2880. Have no reserves to run through this thing live. If you’re tone is sucking, the 2880 won’t be at fault.
I think I’ve said it before, but if not, this is one impressive little unit that EHX straight NAILED! Truly my favorite of all toys….. They’ve outdone themselves on this one! [que: applause……..]

Should I be hitting the button right before ending? Right before beginning? Right on time? Any tips? It’s a skill in itself to work out the start / stop, footswitch or not…..
The solution for this would be to create “Quantized” loops. If you didn’t know, or haven’t tried yet, you would engage the “Quantize” button before starting a Record on a New Loop. This will keep your loops confined to a precise set of the 4/4 click….. oh, yeah, you’ll have to play to the click. So, the click is on a 4/4 measure (1 set = 4 clicks) and when recording it will start right at the beginning of a set and stop at the end of the last 4/4 measure that is playing when you click again to stop.
Another note with that, is that when you start recording a new loop with the “Quantize” active, it doesn’t actually start recording until the second set of measures starts. It’s like a count-off before starting….. so you can be precise with your starting…. NEET’O! That’s that, and that’s if you’re willing to stay on-time and play with a click, and in 4/4, and…….
On the other hand, if you are using footswitch and if you want manual start/stop control, remember that start stop activation isn’t until the actual button clicks all the way down… so there is some lag while depressing the button. so, it’s not when you react, or start pressing the button down, but when it actually clicks. Good luck……
If all else fails and you can’t get it down, you should donate that piece of cr@p pedal to me [grins deviously while rubbing hands together]
