Hello everyone and thanks for any help you have to offer ahead of time,
I have a Holy Grail that is not working correctly. It has no spring or hall effect. It does have some flirb that can be adjusted with the speed knob. The bypass works correctly. Does anyone have a suggestion?
Thanks,
space
May 17, 2009 at 11:45 pm #96801The EH ManModeratorI would check the slide switch and see if it’s been bumped and is starting to come apart. That’s where I would start.
May 18, 2009 at 12:00 am #96802spaceMemberMan that was fast,
Yeah I checked the switch with my continuity tester and the switch checks out fine. What do you suggest next?
Thanks,

May 18, 2009 at 12:30 am #96803The EH ManModeratorNo idea after that. The switch is about the only thing that controls what reverb effect you get. Usually it’s an op-amp or power supply problem. If it’s still under warranty you can contact EH at info@ehx.com.
May 18, 2009 at 1:59 am #96804spaceMemberWhy would the flerb seem to work, not well, somewhat? I had gotten an aftermarket power supply from G.C. is 9volts the correct voltage?
Thanks again,
space
May 18, 2009 at 2:16 am #96805The EH ManModerator9VDC is correct. The original supply is rated for 500mA. Is the GC one rated near that?
May 18, 2009 at 2:22 am #96806spaceMemberYep it’s 500ma. Why would I get partial effect in the flerb setting? By the way EH MAN did I say thank you.

May 18, 2009 at 10:44 am #96811The EH ManModeratorThe only thing I can think of would be that the processor chip has some problems.
May 18, 2009 at 5:18 pm #96823spaceMemberEH Man or anyone elese who wants to chime in,
I was actualy kind of thinking, hoping it would be something simpler, something along that line. Since the flerb works somewhat is the processore the most likely suspect and is there anything else I can check? Lastly I would think, if it’s the prccessor, that after the cost of shiping the HG to EH and the actual repair cost I might be better off buying a new one?
Thanks,
space
May 18, 2009 at 5:44 pm #96825The EH ManModeratorCouple of other things it might be:
Check for 5vdc output on the 78M05 voltage regulator.
Might also be the op-amps for the processor output but I’d doubt it since you are getting some Flerb.I take it it’s out of warranty?
May 19, 2009 at 9:20 pm #96853spaceMemberWhile getting ready to check items mentioned I pluged unit in and a high pitched oscillation which steadily grew in strength until it reached a set output level took place. The spring and hall started to work somewhat but the oscillation remains?

June 13, 2009 at 7:44 am #97836granrondeMemberi had a problem with the slider switch twice.
i took the switch out, opened it up and the 2 little foil contacts float insode the switch. they had gotten messed up and needed repositioning. after that, no problemo. but it happened again after a month. same thing, fixed. we’ll see how long this lasts. might just need to buy a new switch and solder it in next time. mines under warranty, but i forgot to register and blah blah blah
just throwing it out there. helped me with similiar problems.
