I have a v. 2 small stone — issue J board, red noodle logo like this one:
I’d like to fix the volume drop (and maybe TB it, but that’s another thread).
The mod here is for the later v3 I think.
I found some info here that talks about my v.2 — issue J — and a schematic
But, how do I identify the correct resistors to change? (I’m not very good w/ schematics).
Here’s a pic of the board (clickable thumbnails if you’re so inclined):

component side
So, which resistors do I pull? How do you tell? (I can tell the values of the resistors using this conversion chart, but how to find the right ones?
The first link says: “The mod is comprised of 2 resistor value changes. The first is changing the R6 position resistor from 5K6 to 10K. The second change is the R27 position, that changes from 2K2 to 5K6.” — But I thnk that’s for a different board.
The second says: “Changing R42 from a 4k7 resistor to a 10k resistor / Changing R11 from a 3k3 resistor to a 10k resistor“
Which ones are R42 and R11?
ThanksEDIT: Never mind, found it: http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/pdf/ggg_smallstj_lo2.pdf

Thanks,
Justin

edit. ok, some one revived an old thread… well if the volume is even lower, use a smaller resistor instead of a larger one.

April 27, 2010 at 7:41 pm #102161Mr.GrimMemberthe replacement shouldent make a difference, if it sounds fine then its al good, you can usualy substitiute with a value very close to the original.
while were on the topic, does anyone have this volume mod for my V1 Small Stone? all tho im still not sure if i want to mod my V1 still, its in perfect original condition.

May 4, 2010 at 8:55 pm #107697Mr.GrimMemberi think there usually 1/4 watt, but i may be wrong

May 6, 2010 at 12:56 am #105513bigdakotaParticipantOk, well I give up on this mod. I put the same value resistors back and it still is now lower in volume. I don’t know what could possibly be causing this.
