Home › Forums › Help/Technical Questions › Digitech Synth wah, I want the electro harmonix equivalent
I really like the Digitech synth wah and am really tempted to buy one. But i love the build quality of Electro Harmonix stuff. So come on guys and girls tell me what i need.
The Digitech Synth Wah is a great little pedal for the price, and quite versatile for its compact size and 9v power supply.
If you want EHX pedals that can do the approximate tones, you would need a Micro Synthesizer, a Q-Tron, and a BassBalls. The EHX pedals are analog, and the Synth Wah is digital; so I prefer the tone of the EHX stuff. Also, the EHX pedals allow more control over parameters than the Synth Wah. Still, the Synth Wah can be purchased for less than $80, and that’s a real bargain.
The autowah feature on the Synth Wah is very peculiar, and more like a modulated synth filter than a traditional modulated wah. EHX doesn’t make anything that can substitute for it, although I prefer The Worm’s modulated wah over the Synth Wah’s.
Thanks for the advice dude, would like to find a shop here in england that actually carried all these in stock to try together but it’s so hard. Will have to try and piece it all together then start saving some cash.
Shaftesbury Avenue in London, just East of Soho. Lots of music shops in the area with Electro-Harmonix gear. That’s where I picked up my #1 Echo just a while back.
Thanks dude, need to save my money now. I’ll give up eating for a while. It’s a nasty habit anyway. HA HA HA
OK, a pint of milk a day feeds the system pretty well. It worked for me. Meanwhile, check out an EHX Crying Tone Wah if you can. Really interesting pedal. Would fit News From Nowhere’s musical universe really well. Vintage Crying Tones are sometimes available on eBay or in music shops (as in around Soho)
EHX has not yet re-issued these incredible treadle effects.
Some interesting stuff about the CTs on this EHX Pan Pedal Forum link:

You joke but i do drink 2 pints of milk a day to cut down on food. I keep telling myself if it was good enough for Jean Reno in Leon it’s good enough for me. Thanks for the tip on the pedal. I will now try and hunt one of those bad boys down.
