I finally got around to buying a couple of EHX pedalbags; so I’m challenging myself to come up with variations on possible portable rigs.
Here were the limitations I set for myself:
1. I don’t count my BOSS TU-2 Tuner or any graphic EQ I use. Both can be stored in my guitar case for travel purposes.
2. I can only use as many EHX pedals as will fit in the EHX pedalbag when zipped and closed.
3. The front pocket is for the surge protector only.
4. The M-Audio EXP expression pedal, or one of the EHX treadle pedals are the only pedals that are allowed to sit outside of the pedal-board during setup, but they still have to fit inside of the pedalbag when zipped and closed.
5. I can only choose 1 guitar.
6. I can only choose 1 amp, and I have to be able to carry the amp in one hand.
So here’s variation number 1 –
The Synth Rig
1. Fender CIJ 1992 Reissue Mustang
2. Electro-Harmonix Mike Matthews Dirt Road Special solid state amp w/ built in Small Stone phase shifter
3. Electro-Harmonix pedalbag with surge protector
4. Little Muff Pi (vintage)
5. H.O.G. with expression pedal
6. Micro Synthesizer Reissue
7. Soul Preacher (vintage)
8. 16 Second Digital Delay Reissue
9. Holy Grail (original)

That is a REALLY kickass rig. Do you just leave on setting on the HOG, or do you do inter-song tweaking? I can imagine the combination of the distortion, micro synth and HOG could provide some pretty versatile combinations, even just if you just left one setting on each pedal.

Thanks
I haven’t had a live gig in months. Currently, I’m only playing in my studio; so I’m tweaking all the time finding new sounds and guitar parts. This Synth Rig is very versatile indeed. I could get lost in that rig for a very long time, and still not exhaust the possibilities.
I would use my black Fender ’92 MIM Telecaster with this rig, but it’s at my parents’ house right now, so I couldn’t include it in the pic. This rig is distinctly reminiscent of tones heard from 1980 – 1981. Playing through it is like being in time machine.
The Hot Foot is being used here to turn the BMP fuzz up or off. The compressed clean tone is always on as long as the Dlx BMP is engaged.

(sorry for the blurry pic, bad lighting today)
OK, right! Time to get my Freedom Amp in good working order! Strange that I have a re-issue Fender Mustang too, not to mention the same pedals and the same pedal bag. I note the Hot Foot is linked to the Muff whereas I preferred to link mine to the Delay setting on the Memory Man.
Great work! :thumb:
