    Super tempted by a Russian Bassballs that’s just come up.

    Any suggestions or tips?
    How does it stack up against the NYC Doctor Q?
    Have you guys had any trouble with this type of unit?

    is this one of the newer black ones or a sovtek one?

    if it’s the latter – give it to me please :)

    i’ve always wanted a bassballs but never had the spare money to pick one up cheap but a sovtek is a cool collectible item

    Sovtek one sounds just the same as the NY, IMO. I got lucky and got one for 13 bucks.

    you can’t buy it anywhere as far as I know…. unless you find a shop that still has some of the old ones in stock they are all diecast now.

    I picked up an early 80″s nyc with a broken shaft for 10.00 bucks. Canabalized a shaft put her back together and it sounds fabulous. Funny how it’s now one of my favorites…

    If the Russian Bassballs sounds ANYTHING like it I’d jump all over it.

    The black ones are Russian, too. I’ve got an big box black one and a green one, both mint in the box. I ordered the green one direct from EHX when they came out but was sent a black one so I guess the green ones are very limited. Picked up a green one a couple months later on ebay, I think.

    yeah i know, but they’re nowhere near as rare as the green ones. have you got any pics of the green one?

    For your amusement: the green Sovtek Bassballs

    Oddly enough, it also has a stock 9v adapter jack on the back, as does the black one in the next post.
