Decided to demo the smalls tone with fuzz before and after the phaser. Sounds good some ways and doesn’t in other ways. Thought it’d help out with pedal order issues, and similar questions. :thumb: I was cut off at the end though, not much was left to say though. I do gear demos quite often (especially fuzz) so if you like my demo feel free to subscribe to my channel.

I’ve been wanting to try a phaser for quite some time and the small stone fits the bill nicely. Simplicity is always best for me. I personally like it before fuzz on the lower color setting, gives a nice Hendrix sound. Now I just need my Small clone back. Thanks for watching.

This video reassured me that I was right about not going with the small stone on the phaser front… 🙄

To my ears, it sounds great on the clean stuff, but just doesn’t cut through when you throw distortion/fuzz in the mix (either before or after). And call me anal but volume drop is definitely an issue when you step on a pedal during a solo. A booster can solve that if you have three feet but I only have two. :P Of course, all that’s down to taste and there’s no use arguing about it.

Great demo, by the way. Very useful ’cause you rarely see vids where they show you how different boxes work together. It’s cool the way you paint your pedals, too. :thumb:

Thanks sir. What I meant about the clean boost is if you leave the clean on all the time it gives a preset volume and the volume drop on the small stone isn’t noticeable (to my ears). Also if its before a fuzz the volume drop doesn’t apply either. (for anyone else who is curious.)

and I didn’t mean to be insulting on the anal thing, just my dumb humor.

Thanks guys, just testing the waters to see how my fellow ehx users like the demos. I know the devi ever forums liked them…but I had an issue when I demoed the DOD YJM308 od/preamp. Apparently Yngwie fans aren’t too open minded =/.

hope to get another ehx product soon so I can do another video.

    Thanks for posting that….sounded great.

I’m a big lover of Small Stone into Big Muff, it sounds so grungy and messed up. :)

its the stupid little things like actually REORDERING my pedals that i always forget i can do. putting the big muff after the small stone now.

EDIT: i do not like the sounds off that. i will always go muff TO stone, never the other way around.

Just mod the pedal. It’s a 10 minute fix — no more volume drop.
Depending on which version you have, it’s a couple of resistor value changes.
There’s info about the mod here for the v3 I think.
I found some info here that talks about my v.2 — issue J — and a schematic

I also posted some pics here after wrestling with the same question for mine.
