I purchased a black Russian Big Muff Pi, a year or so ago and it worked great. Since I’ve started using it again, I cannot, due to the feedback. As soon as I click on the pedal it just gives loud horrible feedback. So much that I cannot use it at all. I do have it in a daisy chain with the battery clip attachment. Recently I thought maybe adding the “creamy dreamer mod kit” to it would help but that did not fix it. The mod kit works, but all I hear is the same feedback then and now. Can anyone help? I have plugged it directly into my guitar and amp bypassing all the other pedals and still all I get is LOUD FEEDBACK. When I added the mod kit I noticed a yellow wire with a solder less connector, is that the ground? I put it between the two pieces of the pedal and screwed it down, is this where it goes? I really hope someone can help as I used to love this pedal and now it’s getting ready to be removed and now with the mod kit I really want to hear it, without the feedback. Thank you.

I feel pretty stupid telling you this because you probably already know..but just in case..the Big Muff (Russian made anyway) plugs in backwards as opposed to any other pedal..when you plug it in the wrong way, all you get is nasty ass feedback..Like I said..you probably already knew this. If that’s not the case, your circuit board is fried..but the strange thing is, is that it really takes alot to destroy these bad boys..I’ve played mine at numerous live shows..it’s been tossed around..ragged on..beaten..beer poured all over it..kicked..and it still throws down some mean ass fuzz..hmm? Kinda like a bar scrub..?

If you plug it backwards you get bypass sound but when you turn it on nothing happens. If the wire that was loose had like a ring at the end, then that’s the ground wire, which should be screwed to one of the bottom screws. Try using a fresh, new battery instead of the daisy chain.

You were exactly correct about the battery clip connected to my daisy chain. After some trial and error and talking to my local guitar shop they advised me that the battery clips made for daisy chains do not give either enough or different current. Once I went back to using a real battery my feedback has gone away… and yes I did know about the opposite 1/4 jack situation, but thanks for saying that as it does get confusing with this peddle as opposed to all my other “regular” pedals. Thanks for all your replies! Cheers!
