I am thinking about purchasing the EH 12AY7 mic preamp. I have question about this product. Could I use it to go between a condensor microphone and the line-in (1/8 jack) of my Dell computer for recording without buying a new interface with XLR sockets? If I use the Balanced Output can i convert or transform this to go into my Dell computer which is unbalanced? Is there a transformer or converter which would resolve this? I have heard that the unbalanced output of the preamp would be unusable due to unwanted noise and is used for monitoring. I look forward to hearing your advice as i dont want to buy the preamp and then realise that i cannot use it or that i have to buy a new interface for my computer.
you’d probably want something like a presonus firebox before your computer
