Actually there is a smaller version. I didn’t know about them until I saw one in the music store the other day. I used to have the Russian and the new one is noticably smaller. Same shape but closer to a Holy Grail/Small Stone sized box. Still has the reversed jacks though.

    First I know about it….

personally I think he’s mistaken, but I’d like to hear it from EHX….so guys, has the Black Russian BM shrunk?

Probably. . . because the Black Russian is smaller than the US BMP and the old Green Russians.

Yes, the Russian Big Muff is now in a smaller black chassis. Slightly smaller than the NYC Muff, but still the same smooth Muff distortion. Don’t let the size fool you. You can do some damage with it for sure.

Actually, the “smaller” Russian Muff has been up on the new EHX site ever since it launched several months ago (and, my guess, it was on the previous site too):

(NB: You can see the difference if you compare the pic to the ProGuitarShop video, which seems to have the older chassis.)

Its been that size for a few years now though so whats going on with all this “new russian” stuff? Is someone only now noticing it or something?

This is the older chassis one and the PGS video is the one that’s been out for a few years so unless there’s another new one I would bet there actually isn’t a new one at all.

Current version although the wooden box no longer comes with it.

the one on the PGS vid has 4 screws on the top. that’s the only difference i see.

The difference is the one with six screws is way more heavy duty and the two halves fit together differently, I have both the six screw one and the four screw one and the four screw one is more like the NYC metal just black is all, its also about the same size as the old triangle muff. Both have reversed jacks.

I found the thread on HCFX where a smaller one is mentioned and I can safely say NO there’s no new smaller russian coming out.
The current russian muffs ARE indeed smaller than the old green and black ones and this is the source of confusion.
SOmeone has obviously been in the dark since the late 90’sLOL

Some dealers and stores might have some old inventory still. That could also be the confusion too. I hope someone finds an old Triangle and buys it for the price of a new NYC Muff. That would be like finding the Golden Willy Wonka Bar.

I pray (and I’m agnostic) for the day I find an old mint condition Big Muff collection in some old lady’s garage sale that she sells me for $25.

My Dad being in the antique business, he gets to venture into old people’s houses and goes to a lot of garage sales. He’s never got a pedal unfortunately.

    his best buys musically though:
Roland Juno 60 analog synth- 40 dollars
Sequential Circuits Six Trak analog synth- 10 dollars

we’ve also bought and resold different amps and guitars, usually doubling our money.

I went to a flea market once with him and got an EMU Mo Phat sequencer for a dollar!!! Sold it for 300. Helped pay for some nice gear.

Someday though, someday he’ll find some pedals.

You Americans have way better garage sales than in Au because all the cool gear is made in the US and there’s a lot more of it around than here. US gear sold here is so expensive so that’s why I always buy from the US as its cheap even with expensive shipping. Its a shame I cant buy online at garage sales.LOL

I’ve heard of people getting mint condition vintage Jaguars and Jazzmasters for $50 at garage sales,WTF!!!
