Listening to the various capabilities of the BIG MUFF PI pedal,on the video clips examples,I’m totally falled in love of these ones:
1)WHITE NOISE/CLICKS
2)STEAM SOUND NOISES
3)FUZZ SQUARE WAVE
I’m impressed from them,
well,since I’m a bass player,If I buy a BASS BIG MUFF PI,do I obtain those same results?
or,to be fully sure to obtain them, have I to use a BIG MUFF PI pedal with my bass?let me know,it’s very important for me
thanks
April 19, 2010 at 9:54 pm #100473SanquiFlerbMemberany muff will work with a bass. I use the last russian black version. I see that you are talking about sounds that bill has used on his videos. But remember, the steam sound needs some filtering. And the fuzz is just the distortion, which adds harmonics, producing a kind of square wave sound.
Forgot to say, that the first two sounds doesn’t need an instrument plugged in to work.
April 19, 2010 at 10:12 pm #99735BlueSteelParticipantyea, the regular big muff works with basses. i convinced one of my friends who plays the bass to get a regular big muff cause he was looking to get a bass distortion, and it sounds great.

April 19, 2010 at 11:03 pm #98413LOOPMANMemberSanquiFlerb explain me better,
what do you mean when you say that the first 2 sounds don’t need an instrument plugin’ to work?maybe Bill obtain them without to play anything on the guitar?only tweaking the knobs feed from the tail of the signal?let me know,it’s important
thanks a lot
April 19, 2010 at 11:14 pm #98133ToonsterMemberThey were done with a dummy plug, justr so you can turn the pedal on.. But if you have questions about that, just ask in the topic were Bill explains how he makes the sounds, most of the time he answers anybody’s questions..
April 19, 2010 at 11:53 pm #98095LOOPMANMemberHi Toonster, could you explain me what is a dummy plug? coz I would like to find one,but I need its description
thanks
April 19, 2010 at 11:56 pm #98097ToonsterMemberWell, you can see it in this picture, the plug with no wire in the input:
I guess you have seen plugs like this, I think this will work:
April 20, 2010 at 12:07 am #98101LOOPMANMemberdoes this work fine?
April 20, 2010 at 12:09 am #98102ToonsterMemberI haven’t tried it myself, but that’s just how Bill uses it, no input in the pedal, the plug is just to get it on, cause the pedal won’t work without the input plug.. The noise is frome the pedal itself^^
I have the bass big muff, so if I think about it, I could try it tomorrow..
April 20, 2010 at 12:17 am #97804LOOPMANMemberis not important if the plug is mono or stereo, right?anyway,I maybe I’ll opt for the BIG MUFF PI(guitar version),even if I’m a bass player, becuse I guess that it will give me more harmonic/sound possibilities with the bass…
April 20, 2010 at 12:39 am #97666ToonsterMemberWell with sound possibilities I think the Bass Big Muff has more, if you like it more is just a matter of taste of course..
April 20, 2010 at 9:20 am #96396LOOPMANMemberreally?do u think that the BassBigMuff has more sonic sonic possibilities than the guitar version?
April 20, 2010 at 11:58 pm #94607LOOPMANMemberToonster,have you tried if with your bass big muff you are able to obtain the white noise?also,if you can, tell me why the bass big muff has more sonic possibilities than the guitar version?
thank you vey much
April 21, 2010 at 12:08 am #94575ToonsterMemberWell, it has more possibilities soundwise if you like the bass boost function, or the blend-function, for the rest it is just a matter of taste of course..
And the white noise thing woirks for me on the bass big muff, tried it today..
