i ve seen some online retailers list EH power tubes in pairs with further options such as soft, medium, or hard, but i couldnt find any description on either the retailer sites nor on the EH site of what those options are or would indicate.
can someone walk me through that? thanks…
The soft, medium, and hard descriptions refer to break up of the tube for an overdriven signal.
Soft-rated tubes break up slow and have the highest amount of headroom, while hard-rated tubes break up easier and have the least headroom, Medium-rated tubes fall in between.
so, if you have a amp that you want to distort quickly get ‘hard’
if you find you can’t get loud enough cleans from your amp get the ‘soft’
thanks! i assumed it was something like that, but wasnt sure, just wanted to confirm….
no problem, I didn’t know myself until I did some google searching, so I learned something too!!!
what does EH reccomend on “burning in” tubes
