The “Do most EHX users also use Fenders“-thread made me think !
I am playing with the idea of getting a Marshall VintageModern – the only Marshall that i like the tone of.
Fender & EHX sounds good to my ears because most fender amps are clean sounding, but how would a “dirty-Marshall” sound with added dirt from an EHX unit ?
Is there any one of you, or bands that you know of, that use Marshalls & EHX DIRT BOXES to get their tone ?
All info very welcome !
ask J. Mascis…
short answer yes of course!!!
OMG, yes!!!!!!
Most definitely yes.
Thanks…
Never been a Dino Jr. fan – too poppy sounding for me, but i do like his new sig Jazzmaster, and he does have good tone !
What EHX would he be using in this vid ?
Anyone else here use EHX into a Marshall ?
Vintage Big Muff for the extra dirt (seems he has a posh switching system now to keep them all safe) and I believe that swirly stuff is a small stone (or maybe a flanger) I’m not sure….
He definitely has an Electric Mistress in there as well!
yeah, that’s what it is…..not a small stone..
Yeah, I was gonna say, “that’s a flanger dude”
EHX in a Marshall? Come on!
Smashing Pumpkins! The early Pumpkins tone was Big Muff in Marshall stacks. Not the mention the Small Stone taped to James’ Gibson Flying V…
as I said in the UK hardly anyone plays Fender amps….it’s all Marshall, Vox, Laney, Orange, Hiwatt etc…..plenty of EHX users though!!
Same here man, most people play Marshalls.
they rock! :metal:
The thing about marshalls is they aren’t clean like fender amps, that always put me off. They look cool and intimidating though. I like mesa stacks, they sound sick and are probably the only amp distortion I really like.
I’d like to try a mesa but they are astronomically priced over here…
