    love it. only problem is that it is noisy as hell when not playing. and i don’t like noise gates.

    For a high gain fuzz with more sustain than a sustainy thing from planet sustain, It never really struck me as being excessively noisey.

    I cetainly played through noisier lower gain pedals.

    yeah, after playing with several devi ever pedals, I find that the little bit of extraneous noise via my Big Muff is hardly noticeable.

    Fuzz is Noise and Noise is Fuzz. It’s the beauty of these boxes. Stay away from fluorescent lights…. they are your enemy!

    I’ve owned about 4 different Big Muff Pis over the last year, and I’ve found that some are noisier than others. The noisiest one I owned was the one I have now, but I sent it to EHman for the Classic HairPie Mod and the noise floor was reduced to almost nothing. If the noise is unbearable, you might try trading it out for a different one.

    not unbearable and i know it comes with the territory. it is just a pedal which is tricky to use if you are playing loud and need to stop for an instant.

    I’ve never had a problem with noise when I stop playing with it on so much as feedback. But then I turn on my HOG and hit the expression pedal hard and make it sound like a car is crashing and I smile.

    I run a Big Muff into an overdriven amp and don’t get any noise at all with humbuckers – of course, lots of noise is to be expected with single coils due to the signal boost amplifying the single coil hum, but i get no additional noise from mine – unless of course i turn the sustain up high – i have it at about 8 o’clock 😆

    i also sometime run it into a overdrive pedal to get a clipping sound, this is when it hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmsssssssssssssssssssssssss like mad. :) cool though

    yeah my main guitars have humbuckers
    my drop D guitar has single coils and it can get noisy though
    but I sort of expect that

    Mine tends to make a crackly and scratchy noise when the sustain is turned up to full, but it’s dead silent with the sustain at less than halfway.

    It could also be due to an earthing problem with some of the mains sockets in my house which just happen to be the ones my VC30 amp and pedals are powered from. these have been needing to be rewired for a long time – i’m well aware that this is potentially dangerous :doh:
