Hey all, I thought it might be fun to try to compile a list of “iconic tracks” that have used EHX gear (obvious selections might include work by Pink Floyd, The Police, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nirvana, White Stripes, etc.

Fender&EHX;, that means you!
Haha, this will be an ongoing research project for me.
Okay, first up – I have no explicit evidence of this, but I’m pretty sure that Adrian Belew used an Electro-Harmonix Frequency Analyzer for “Mr. Self Destruct”, the opening song from the Nine Inch Nails’ 1994 masterpiece, The Downward Spiral.
I have no evidence for this (at present) but I read somewhere that Graham Coxon was using an english muffin’ around the time of his ‘happiness in magazines’ album. I’m pretty sure I’ve heard a Big Muff on his recordings too……I’ll do some digging and see what I can find out.
ok, well a ‘holy grail’ is part of his live rig…so that’s a start!!
Bands such as Smashing Pumpkins and Dinosaur Jr. The band Mudhoney loved the pedal so much that they named an EP after it, Superfuzz Bigmuff. Singer-songwriter John Martyn also paid tribute to the pedal by naming a song after it. Robert Sledge, Bassist of the since disbanded group Ben Folds Five, used the pedal during recorded and live performances. Jack White of the White Stripes has also made the Big Muff an integral part of his garage rock sound. Chris Ross, the bassist of Wolfmother uses the New York version of the Big Muff. The pedal is a part of the stoner rock sound, and bands like Fu Manchu and Monster Magnet and Kyuss owe a big debt to the big muff. Lee Ranaldo and Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth both use the Sovtek version of the Big Muff. The Big Muff remains a favorite among guitarists and bassists for its distinctive sound.
We know for sure that Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth used an Electro-Harmonix vintage Hot Tubes and a reissue Micro Synthesizer before their gear was stolen:
Bernard Sumner (guitar/keyboards) and Peter Hook (Bass) of Joy Division/New Order both may have used EHX Clone theorys for their chorus sounds, throughout the Joy Division days at least. On guitargeek, it says “unknown chorus pedal” but joydiv.org claims its a clone theory, for both.
Billy Joel used a Small Stone with his Fender Rhodes for his 1977 recording of “Just The Way You Are.”
I always suspected it, as it has the undeniable Small Stone swoosh; but I finally found an article to prove it.

This is serious business, tubezipper. We need hard, cold evidence that Electro-Harmonix is the choice of the Gods :metal: None of this, “I think so and so used a Big Muff, but I’m not sure.” Conjecture has no place in this thread :nono:
