a lot of people seem to have problems using this pedal (usually because they haven’t read the manual properly) but sometimes just because the knobs don’t always do what you expect them to do. (it’s full of suprises!)
Personally I think it is one the greatest EHX pedals ever made and destined to be a classic.
If you are having any problems getting to grips with what this brilliant pedal can do…or you don’t seem to be able to record a loop and overdub without a volume drop or other problems, this is the place to ask….I haven’t found something that can’t be sorted with some careful adjustments and preset planning.

As much as I’m in a honeymoon period with my 16sDD, it’s also increasing my gratitude for the SMMH. The SMMH is truly a work of genius, and already a “classic” in my opinion. Kudos to the design team who created it! I hope they’ll chime in on the forum and tell us more about the making of it.

November 24, 2008 at 11:45 pm #87654julianModeratorI was having problems with the whole volume thing on looping, I couldn’t find a happy medium it seemed. So my solution was to use the stereo outputs of my clone theory to split the signal- one signal with no SMMH straight to my instrument channel, and one signal with the SMMH followed by a volume pedal, with all my presets set to 100% wet going into my bass channel. Not only has it allowed to me match the volume better, but to also get quite a different tone on the loop, separate from my normal tone. Also, the volume pedal adds some interesting opportunities. I can create some pretty crazy loops and bring them up appropriately during portions of songs where it works.
Soon I’m going to make a pedal to swap the locations of the SMMH and the volume pedal so I can do trails and stuff
December 2, 2008 at 3:39 pm #87945boytbpcParticipantI know this might just be me, but when using the looper I’m having a heck of a time getting the loop to end where I want it. Anybody have any secrets to making a perfect loop?

Anybody have any secrets to making a perfect loop?I found you really need to play along with a drum pattern or a metronome, click track or whatever…..just something to keep you keep in time and help you to end the loop on the right beat.

Woah, that’s really clever!
So your signal chain goes like this?
Clone Theory A>> SMMH >> Volume Pedal>> Bass Channel
Clone Theory B>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Normal ChannelI need to try that with my JC-55, maybe the SMMH going straight to the Low gain input
December 2, 2008 at 10:24 pm #88099julianModeratorpretty much that’s how I have it.
December 24, 2008 at 7:36 pm #89607wildlifenycMembersince it’s not analog like the deluxe memory man, can you still play it like an instrument the same way? does it stutter when you tweek the feedback and speed etc.?
cheers
December 24, 2008 at 8:06 pm #89608Ned FlandersModeratorNope, its fine! Its definitely playable.
December 24, 2008 at 8:13 pm #89611wildlifenycMemberYES thanks Santa’s Elves.
January 9, 2009 at 5:02 pm #90364wildlifenycMemberi tried to tweak the repeat knob and the delay knob while playing to do deluxe memory man style effects and swells. it doesn’t work!!!!! sounds like stuttery digitalness.
