I bought a vintage EHX Polychorus from overseas and it has an EU plug and was converted to EU power overall.

My questions is, if I buy a wall adapter and since the US is set to 120V for houses, will this allow the Polychorus to function normally or will it cause a “sag” effect since max EU power (220 to 240V) isn’t being used?

I have it in the shop right now but the tech says he cant find the right transformer to reconvert it back to US power at 120V.

I know I cant fry it if I plugged it in since we’re set to a lower voltage but I was wondering about the sag effect if I did.

This the transformer I use for US conversion:

I showed it to the electronics guy and he said it may not fit.

So you’ve personally used this on a Polychorus, Polyflange or Echoflanger?

The electronics tech called and he reduced the transformer to 12V. I told him it was supposed to be left at 24V, but he insisted it needs to be 12V. I’ve never had to deal with this and I know the pedal will function, but will it function 100%? Just lose some headroom? I also have another Polychorus and Echoflanger that I bought in the US and work fine; are these set to 24V?

I’d be concerned that it won’t get the correct voltages to the circuit. According to the Echoflanger schematic, there should be +15VDC and a +7.5VDC. That 24vac transformer I linked is small enough to fit in there. I’ve used it several times.

It actually worked after getting it back so mow I know how to go about this if it ever happens again. Very appreciative!

    Hello,
I would like to ask a utility question about the Poly Chorus: I want to change my Mistress for the Poly Chorus but I would like to know if I will be able to have the same “style” of chorus sound with more possibility of course.

Thank you for your answer and sorry if it’s in a wrong discussion, I will make a new post.

    Musically,

Thanks for posting this info. Have you used this and it fits into a Polychorus? I’m getting an EU one soon so will likely use this part if so.

Yes, this transformer was a perfect fit and works well! The tech I took it to said he had to use a resistor/capacitor to bring the power down to the correct voltage (because it was too high?). In either case, he definitely knew what he was doing since he got it to work! You’ll also need to change the wall plug or use an adapter, but I’d change it if I were you. If you get that transformer from the link provided up top, it has a wiring scheme/diagram so make sure you take that with you to the tech.

I’ve never had or used a Mistress but I have heard that the chorus is different from the Polychorus. But I also feel like the Polychorus has more depth so you’ll probably end up liking it even more than the Mistress!
