CryabetesParticipant
have you tried different cables? or are you solder-knowledgable enough to check the jacks? I had a short on one of my cable [actually the tip of it came off in my moogerfooger] and a new cable fixed it.
CryabetesParticipantno, not always. it’s best to use compressors where you need readily measurable and less variable signal strength.
CryabetesParticipantthis used to happen when I used 3′ hosa cables on dock 4 of my patch bay. for whatever reason, it was the right length to pick up radio. then I wrapped the outside of the patch bay [except the patch points] with aluminum foil and it went away.
CryabetesParticipant-Yep, I follow. You might want to try switching the TS9 to before the Wah, Gary, or Wiggler if you aren’t 100% happy with the sounds you’re getting, or swap the Flanger and chorus , but pedal placement is really personal preference.
-you’re probably getting a ground loop on the BF-2 by powering it from the 9v output of the TU-2 [which would be where your hum is coming from]. Try that one either on its own supply or daisy chained to the rest of the stuff [or, ideally, on its own output from the fuel tank].
-don’t buy a noise gate/noise suppressor type pedal.
CryabetesParticipantor a clean compressor afterwards
CryabetesParticipant“Rock Action” or “EP+6”
CryabetesParticipantyou’re going to need an inversion adapter- 2880 is tip-positive [like a Moogerfooger or a Yamaha keyboard] and eats current for breakfast. Also, seeing as they are so ridiculously expensive, I wouldn’t use anything but the supplied adapter.
CryabetesParticipant?
CryabetesParticipantman what is the point of being open until 6EST if everyone but the receptionist takes off at 5EST anyway?

yeah, exactly… they aren’t interested in the forum as such they are just looking to contact EHX about something … which is fine and understandable BUT that isn’t what the forum is here for… clearly EHX don’t think so either otherwise they would have paid staff in here everyday answering the questions!
I’m just gonna keep out of the ‘help’ section from now on, EHX staff can either come here and answer questions or they can go unanswered, I don’t come here and give my time for nothing to get a load of jip of disgruntled customers!! lol…
I’m going to call EHX tonight when I get out of work and see if I can get someone who knows pedals AND is affiliated with them to start boarding as part of their customer service job- seems like a lot of the first time never seen again posters get all indignant and swear off buying EHX forever, but odds are they’ll still hang out at harmony central or wherever, where they’ll bash EHX and that’s really not fair to EHX’s reputation, to have that stuff out there.
I mean, if they’re clearly ignoring the forum, that’s one thing. But if it’s a managarial oversight where no techs check it, letting them know how to fix it is going to be the easiest solution, right?
CryabetesParticipantI use a cusack screamer [with the gain really low but the level really high] and a Boss EH-2 for my “clean” sound. I can use pretty much any PA and get the same [good] guitar sound, which is a lot easier for me than lugging around an amp. Similar setups would be the English Muff’n or the Tech 21 stuff.
My fav solid state amps are the Peavey Vega, the Fender Jazz Chorus, and the Peavey CS800.CryabetesParticipanthas anyone from the forum called EHX to ask that a customer service tech use the forum?
think we should?[is it super dorky to call to discuss a webforum?]
CryabetesParticipantI have my pedal board set up so that everything is going through a ‘clean’ overdrive first. .
Basically, if your sound is 100% where you want it when it’s clean, go for the buffer. If not, try an EQ pedal or something that’s fun rather than a pedal that does “nothing”. [yeah yeah i know it does stuff]CryabetesParticipant1- you’ve been here for a day, you aren’t familiar with how things work here. Why bitch on a message board when you could just CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE? that’s why they have a customer service line. The forum is effects pedal/EHX enthusiasts who can help with minor problems. No one is going to magically be able to tell you whether a resistor or something is burned out without looking at your specific pedal. EHX provides a warranty on their products, that they are free from defects in manufacturing. if you’ve got a defect, send it back.
2- a comparable product for the micropog with a similar footprint is going to be the Boss PS line [PS-2/PS-3/PS-5/PS-6] and maybe the Boss HR-2. I’d personally go for the PS-3 or the PS-6.
CryabetesParticipantit could do the same thing, but has a better chance of sounding like garbage [analog delays have a built in compressor for the delays- adding more compression gives you less variation in volume which would detract from any expressive playing- not what you’re looking for with an envelope filter]. For the sake of signal, envelope and dynamics integrity, use a lpb-1 or similar ‘boost’ pedal [or an EQ pedal].
