I love the english muff’n pedal it is awesome. However I have noticed something about the “true bypass”

When I have my guitar running straight into my fender bassman amp it sounds beautiful I get an awesome clean tone.

However, when I place the english muff’n between my guitar and amp, I lose a great deal of those highs and the amp sounds very ‘honky’ or something (when the pedal is bypassed)

I’ve replaced the english muff’n with a different pedal, in this case I put the holy grail reverb down and when it is in the chain I don’t lose any of my amps nice tone so that rules out the leads being the problem.

I’d like to ask other english muff’n users to please test this with their own setups and see if it is just me, my english muff’n pedal, or something else. . . or maybe the true bypass isnt so true and takes away some of the tone.

If so i’m going to get a bypass looper and maybe that will solve my problem.

Any replies or help greatly appreciated, thank you all!

I recently repaired a Hot tubes pedal and i dont think the tube pedals are true bypass in the traditional way because the 3dpt switch only had three lugs and only two are connected to wires
a normal bypass wiring uses most of the 9 pins of a 3pdt switch

I have heard to test if a pedal is true bypass you should be able to get a clean signal through the pedal when there is no power present by clicking the footswitch in to the off position
