    Hi,

I have a memory man in for repair that is a newer model. It has a 3PDT switch inside but only has two lugs wired up….don’t really understand why they’re wasting a switch.

The problem I’m encountering is that there is a lot of white noise in the signal when the guitar is played and the delay is engaged. I’ve turned all the trimmer pots to see if that was the problem, and that doesn’t take care of it. I resoldered as many joints as I could, but now I’m at a loss as to what could be causing the white noise.

This memory man has four MN3008 chips in it, with a Philips SA571N compander chip.

Any ideas? I really want to fix this thing….it sounds great. It’s one of the newer boards, I don’t know if pics are allowed on this forum, I could show what the board looks like.

The Deluxe Memory Man has always been guilty of audible white noise in the signal. The white noise is more prominent in some units, different components, different tolerances, different trim pot settings, etc. I own 4 DMMs from a variety of generations, and all of them having varying degrees of audible white noise. I always just passed it off as part of the analog charm.
